PHOENIX, AZ: “ThrillerFest”
At the International Thriller Writers’ first convention, I’ll be on a panel called “What Thrills Us?” where I imagine I’ll do little else but discuss The Intelligencer and Killing Caravaggio. More seriously, it sounds like this will be a fun event, many of my favorite scribblers will be there, and I encourage anyone who loves thrillers to attend. STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN: “The World Championships of Magic”
Sadly, I’m not a competitor. I wish I were, but not being able to perform a single magic trick I don’t imagine I’d do all that well. This is a research thing because one of the present-day characters in Killing Caravaggio, a mercenary, is also an amateur magician, and while up to no good in Europe he takes a detour to compete in this event. I mention this here on the off chance any of you reading this are familiar with Stockholm and feel like killing a minute or two by offering me advice about the city. If so, thanks!
